Party Policy Lens
Understand Party Policies
This tool is designed to help you understand party policies before the election. Parties regularly publish new policies. They’re also updating their published policies. We capture all of this by monitoring more than 450 policy documents across the seven leading parties.
What this tool is
- It’s an assistant that answers questions about what New Zealand’s political parties have published about their own policies. Every answer is drawn from the parties’ own material and links to the pages it came from. It reports what the parties say.
- It does not judge or assess the policies.
- Each answer is designed to take a neutral tone, and cite the relevant underlying policy document.
- Answers should be checked as mistakes can happen.
What it isn’t
- Not advice or a recommendation. It never says how to vote and never ranks or compares parties. Before you see what a policy could mean for your organisation, a separate check makes sure it’s neutral and based on the source documents.
- Not shared between colleagues. Each person has their own conversation and question count. Only the organisation profile is shared.
- Not an unlimited tool. Each person is allocated 15 questions. Contact us if you would like more.
How it works
- You need to use a verified work email, and each person gets 15 questions.
- Lumini uses your email address to create an organisational profile based on your organisation’s website.
- The first person from your organisation to use the tool can edit the stored organisational profile. The profile covers the name, type, description and up to eight priorities.
- Each answer comes with a separate note on what it could mean for your organisation, drawn from the parties’ policy documents and your organisation’s profile.
- A returning person can see their last 10 exchanges from the past 30 days.
